An island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, New Zealand comprises two main landmasses, the North and South Island, and numerous smaller islands most notably the Stewart and Chatham Islands. New Zealand is notable for its geographic isolation, situated about 2000 km (1250 miles) southeast of Australia. During its isolation, New Zealand developed a distinctive fauna dominated by birds, a number of which became extinct after the arrival of humans and the mammals they introduced. The population is mostly of European descent, with the indigenous Māori being the largest minority.
New Zealand offers an unbelievable variety of experiences that it is sometimes called “The World in Miniature”. Glacial mountains, majestic fiords lush green pastures, awesome thermal regions and semi tropical islands flourish in the country. That is why it is the perfect backdrop for the epic movies of the Lord of the Rings. New Zealand will surely capture the imagination.
